The municipalities are arranged by population so residents, people planning a move, researchers, and visitors can quickly compare community sizes. Some municipalities extend into neighboring counties; in those cases, the population shown represents the entire incorporated municipality, not only the portion located within Bexar County.
Largest Municipalities in Bexar County
San Antonio is by far the largest municipality with territory in Bexar County, with an estimated population of 1,548,422 as of July 1, 2025. Schertz follows with 45,978 residents, while Cibolo has 39,019 and Converse has 32,481. Universal City has an estimated population of 20,399, and Live Oak has 16,426. Because some of these municipalities cross county boundaries, their figures represent the population of the entire municipality.
Several other communities have populations above 10,000. Fair Oaks Ranch has an estimated 12,025 residents, Selma has 11,955, Leon Valley has 11,563, and Helotes has 10,387. Together, these figures illustrate the wide range of community sizes found across Bexar County, from a major urban center to smaller suburban municipalities.
Smaller Communities Across Bexar County
Several Bexar County municipalities have populations between 5,000 and 10,000. Kirby has an estimated population of 8,211, followed by Alamo Heights at 7,632, Sandy Oaks at 5,874, Windcrest at 5,809, and Terrell Hills at 5,215.
The county also includes a number of smaller incorporated communities. Castle Hills, Shavano Park, Lytle, Hollywood Park, and Elmendorf each have populations between roughly 3,000 and 4,000. Balcones Heights, St. Hedwig, Olmos Park, and Somerset have populations between approximately 1,800 and 2,800. Von Ormy and China Grove each have more than 1,000 residents, while Hill Country Village has an estimated 970 residents and Grey Forest has 510. Grey Forest is the smallest municipality in this list based on the latest official population estimates.
